Trailcenter Green

Trailcenter Green

Lilaw Kawani is responsible for corporate communications at Allegra.

What

A trail center that produces its own electricity. All the energy required for the system is to be produced entirely from the visitors’ own muscle power. A display board shows how much energy has already been stored and whether the target value for the day has been reached.

Why

A Trailcenter Green, which gives the community the opportunity to actively produce electricity, could strengthen ecological awareness and motivate visitors to actively think about the environment.

How

The idea would be to use special bicycles equipped with generators that store the generated energy in batteries while riding. The seeds of this vision already exist. The company “Hans Free Electric” sells its exercise bikes to India, for example, where families can charge a 12-volt battery with enough electricity for their daily needs within 60 minutes. The same principle can be found in the increasingly popular bicycle cinemas. Another approach might be a friction-based system that generates energy from the friction between the tyres and the trail center’s surfaces.
